Background
Born in Çankırı in 1987, Op. Dr. Akgün completed his medical degree at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, graduating with distinction in 2011, and his specialty training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, one of the city's high-volume teaching hospitals.
During his residency he performed a wide range of microsurgical, reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, and contributed to peer-reviewed scientific literature. That reconstructive and microsurgical grounding is what sits underneath the aesthetic work: the technical foundation is the same, and it is the reason the stated aim is a natural, balanced result rather than a dramatic one.
